"European football must continue to be a model of unity in this increasingly divided world," said Aleksander Ceferin, president of UEFA, at the European body's 49^th Ordinary Congress at Sava Center in Belgrade (SRB) on Thursday 03/04/2025.

"We have a responsibility to ensure that football remains a force for unity, progress and leadership. That's why I see a tournament like the Euro U21, organised jointly by Albania and Serbia (in 2027, as decided by the UEFA executive committee on 04/02/2025), as a shining example: it reminds us that there are no real borders in European football. And it is this lesson in unity that brings us here today. Because football is not just about a storied past. It is about the future that we are building, and that we are building together," added the Slovenian.
