FIFA: $47.6bn in economic benefits for the United States thanks to the 2025 & 2026 World Cups

The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 and the 2026 World Cup are expected to generate economic impacts of $17.1bn and $30.5bn respectively in the United States, for a total of $47.6bn (€43.4bn as of 07/04/2025), according to two studies carried out by OpenEconomics (OE), an Italian consultancy and economic analysis company, and published by FIFA and the WTO on 05/04/2025 (documents available to download).

On a global scale, including the host countries, the economic impact will reach $41.3bn for the "Mundial des Clubes", the official name of the International Federation's new competition (32 clubs, 63 matches, 12 stadiums), and $80.1bn for the 2026 World Cup, the first with 48 teams and 104 matches spread over three countries (78 in the United States, 13 in Canada and 13 in Mexico, 16 stadiums in total).

Other key figures for the 2026 World Cup include:
• 6.5 million people are expected to attend the competition;
• a $40.9bn contribution to global GDP;
• 824,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs created worldwide, including 185,000 in the United States.
