Tennis: sale of IMG-owned tournaments (Madrid & Miami) to American funds RedBird & Apollo (press)

A consortium of investors led by the American funds Apollo Global Management and RedBird Capital Partners, as well as Ari Emanuel, CEO of TKO Group Holdings and co-founder of the Endeavor Group (which became the WME Group at the end of March 2025), is on the verge of acquiring the ATP and WTA (Masters 1000) tennis tournaments in Miami (Florida, USA) and Madrid (ESP) from the British agency IMG, according to information published by the American economic and financial news website Bloomberg on 09/04/2025.

The transaction is valued at an estimated $1bn (€913m). The funds EQT Partners, Providence Equity Partners and CVC Capital Partners (minority shareholder in the WTA trading company) were also competing in the sale process, which was led by The Raine Group.

This transaction, which has not yet been finalised, is part of the asset disposal strategy being pursued by Endeavor Group Holdings, owner of IMG, pending completion of the sale of the agency to TKO Group Holdings (of which Endeavor is also the majority shareholder), which is expected to take place "in the first half of 2025."
