The torches for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games were officially presented at a ceremony held simultaneously at Triennale Milano in Milan (ITA) and at Expo 2025 in Osaka (JPN) on 14/04/2025 to mark World Expo 2025.

Coloured blue for the Olympic Games and bronze for the Paralympic Games, these torches, which resemble flutes and have the English name "Essential" to emphasise their sustainability, were designed by the Italian designer and architect Carlo Ratti.

Four great Italian sportswomen were chosen to present the torches, which symbolise the forthcoming Winter Games:
• In Milan, cross-country skier Stefania Belmondo and Paralympic fencer Beatrice Vio;
• In Osaka, Martina Caironi, silver medallist in para-athletics (T63 long jump) at the Paris 2024 Games, and former figure skater Carolina Kostner.

Weighing 1,060 grams, the torches are made "entirely in Italy" from recycled aluminium by Eni, the Italian oil and gas company that is one of the premium partners of the organising committee for the 2026 Olympic Games.
