Manchester United: Jean-Claude Blanc leaves the board but becomes chief of international relations

"Jean-Claude Blanc has stepped down from his position as a director of Manchester United FC (Premier League), however, he will continue to have an active role in the management of the club in his new position as chief of international football relations and special advisor to the board," announced a statement from the club relayed by the Daily Mail on 14/04/2025.

The Frenchman had left Paris Saint-Germain (Ligue 1 McDonald's) in December 2022 to join Ineos in February 2023 as CEO of the British group's sports arm. Jim Ratcliffe, owner of the chemicals company, acquired a 25% stake in Manchester United FC in February 2024, which led to Jean-Claude Blanc taking on responsibilities at the club. He served as interim CEO (for just two weeks) in July 2024 and has represented the club on the European Club Association since October 2024. He has even sat on the board of UEFA Club Competitions SA (a UEFA subsidiary created in 2017, half of whose board members are appointed by UEFA and the other half by the ECA) since his appointment by the ECA on 10/10/2024.
