Africa: agreement between the IOC, FIFA & ANOCA to create 50 football pitches

ANOCA (Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa) has signed a collaboration agreement with FIFA and the IOC to create 50 "modern and accessible" football pitches that will contribute to youth development in Africa, according to the three organisations on 15/04/2025.

These pitches, designed to accommodate everyone, including people with disabilities, will be installed in Olympafrica centres, a network of some 40 facilities spread across 35 African countries and hosting young players. "The centres are ideal locations for the new football pitches by virtue of their strategic location and their significant impact on local communities," said ANOCA.

The project will also provide the young beneficiaries with educational programmes, vocational training and post-sporting career opportunities. Finally, specific measures will be taken to encourage women to play football.
