Ligue 1 TV rights: following the mediation failure the LFP "expects DAZN to fulfil its obligations"

"LFP Media takes note of the failure of the mediation initiated at the beginning of March 2025. The contract binding the parties remains in force and LFP Media expects its partner to fully perform all its obligations in this regard," announced the Ligue de Football Professionnel regarding its agreement with the OTT platform DAZN, on 15/04/2025.

DAZN, which holds the domestic live broadcasting rights to eight (out of nine) Ligue 1 McDonald's games per matchday for an average of €400m per year over the 2024-2029 cycle, brought proceedings against the LFP before the Paris Commercial Court on 30/01/2025. The platform is claiming €309m for "fraudulent misrepresentation" and €264m for "breach of contract", for a total of €573m. A mediation period was initiated at the beginning of March 2025 to settle this dispute.

This mediation period began after the two parties had reached an initial agreement concerning DAZN's full settlement of the January 2025 instalment (€70m) for the TV rights to the French top flight. The streaming service had initially paid only 50% of the amount, forcing the LFP…
