UEFA: €233m paid to 901 clubs for the release of their players between 2020 & 2024

901 clubs (list available to download) from UEFA's 55 member associations have received "a record €233m" for making their players available to national teams in competitions between 2020 and 2024, announced the confederation on 22/04/2025.

These funds, financed by commercial revenues from the Euro, were paid out as follows:
• Euro 2024: €140m to 196 clubs from 29 associations, with payments "calculated based on a per-day fee, weighted by the FIFA training compensation, resulting in amounts ranging from €3,395 to €10,187 per day";
• 2020-21 and 2022-23 Nations League & Euro 2024 qualifiers: €93m "with a fixed compensation of €3,659 per player per match appearance."

This increase of €33m distributed to clubs compared to the previous cycle (€200m) is the result of the memorandum of understanding signed by UEFA and the ECA in February 2019.

For the 2020-2024 cycle, the clubs belonging to The Football Association (The FA) received the highest payments from UEFA (€46.9m, 20% of the total). Manchester City FC (Premier League) was the European club that received the highest amount, with €5.2m…
