Ligue 1, Ligue 2: sixth consecutive season of losses despite a 13.7% increase in turnover

The 40 professional clubs in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 had a combined net loss of €93m for the 2013-14 financial year (from 01/07/2013 to 30/06/2014), 2.4 times that of 2012-13 (-€39m), as is shown in the the individual accounts of clubs for the 2013-14 season, which were published by the French DNCG on 17/04/2015. The cumulative losses of clubs was €231m, more than three times higher than in 2012-13 (-€75m).

2013-14 is the sixth consecutive year in which the clubs of the French professional football leagues have posted a combined net loss. "This recurrence of losses shows the difficulties clubs are having in developing operating revenues that are sufficient to cover costs that remains very important, particularly payroll and social and fiscal charges," said Richard Olivier, the president of the DNCG, in its annual report entitled "The Situation of Professional Football 2013-14".
