DFL: contracts of Marc Lenz & Steffen Merkel, co-CEOs since 2023, extended until the end of 2029

The supervisory board of DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH, which met on 28/04/2025, unanimously decided to extend the contracts of Marc Lenz and Steffen Merkel as co-CEOs of the German league until "the end of 2029," announced the latter the DFL. The two men have been in post since 01/07/2023.

"Marc Lenz and Steffen Merkel took over the management of the DFL in difficult times and have been running it remarkably well ever since. The successful negotiation of national media rights dominates the perception, but they have also achieved considerable success beyond that and still have their work cut out for them.
