Basketball: Alba Berlin (GER) leave the Euroleague to join the FIBA Champions League

At the end of the 2024-25 season, Alba Berlin (easyCredit BBL) will leave Euroleague Basketball, the governing body of the European competitions Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and BKT EuroCup, in which the German club has played since 2001 (12 seasons in each of the two leagues), and join the Basketball Champions League (BCL) organised by FIBA from 2025-26, announced the club on 07/05/2025.

"By joining the Basketball Champions League, we are entering an exciting new chapter and responding to the changing landscape of European basketball. We have a long tradition with the EuroLeague, and our aim has always been to play in the most competitive environment possible. However, the conditions for securing a EuroLeague spot have changed dramatically in recent years.
