SC Freiburg: a €10m investment in the club's former stadium to support women's football

SC Freiburg (Bundesliga) has announced a €10m investment in the Dreisamstadion, the club's former stadium in Freiburg (Germany), "to create a central location and thus a long-term perspective for women's and girls' football and establish a children's sports centre of excellence and a stadium as a place of learning," on 12/05/2025.

"The sports venue in the east of Freiburg has been the home of SC Freiburg for 70 years and will remain so in the future. By extending the lease for the municipal Dreisamstadion, the sports club has planning security to invest in the long-term remodelling and renovation of the Dreisamstadion and its grounds," said the club.

SC Freiburg intends to create the infrastructure needed to bring together its women's and girls' teams "and offer them the best possible training conditions". The centre, which will also be home to the men's U23 team, is intended to encourage children to take up sport.
