Everton FC: Goodison Park to become the home of the club's women's team

Goodison Park (39,514 capacity, Liverpool, ENG) will not be demolished, but will become the home stadium for the women's team (Barclays Women's Super League) of Everton FC (Premier League), announced the club on 13/05/2025.

The club's decision to preserve the stadium "follows an in-depth review of the Goodison Legacy project by The Friedkin Group (TFG) since their takeover in December" (see below). Goodison Park was in fact due to be largely demolished as part of the Liverpool City Council-backed Goodison Legacy Project, which aims to redevelop the area into social housing, green spaces and a shopping area.

"The move addresses Everton Women's rapid growth and need for a larger, more suitable venue than Walton Hall Park (2,200 capacity)," explained the club. Everton Women have played their home games at the venue in the north of Liverpool since 2020.

The move comes as Everton men's team is due to leave Goodison Park at the end of the 2024-25 season to open their new 52,888-seat stadium built on the Bramley-Moore Dock site (Liverpool, ENG), ahead of the start of the 2025-26 season.
