FIFA: Deutsche Telekom acquires exclusive TV rights in Germany for FIFA 2026 & 2027 World Cups

Deutsche Telekom has acquired exclusive full broadcasting rights in Germany for the 2026 World Cup and the Women's World Cup 2027 (to be held in Brazil), announced the telecommunications operator on 23/05/2025.

The agreement also includes media rights for the 2025 and 2027 editions of the U20 World Cup. The operator will broadcast all the matches, a total of 272, on its Magenta TV streaming platform.

The broadcasting rights for the Women's World Cup 2023 were held in Germany by the German broadcasting groups ARD and ZDF. They also held the free-to-air rights to 48 matches from the 2022 World Cup, while Deutsche Telekom held the rights to all matches for pay-TV.

FIFA launched two separate calls for tenders for the broadcasting rights to the 2026 World Cup, the 2030 World Cup (to be held in Spain, Portugal & Morocco) and the Women's World Cup 2027 (in Germany), on 09/01/2025. The TV rights for the 2030 World Cup were ultimately not awarded during this process.
