1. FC Union Berlin: Dirk Zingler to remain president until 2029

The supervisory board of 1. FC Union Berlin (Bundesliga) has extended Dirk Zingler's mandate as club president until 30/06/2029, announced the German club on 26/05/2025.

"Dirk Zingler has led the operational management of 1. FC Union Berlin as president since July 2004. Under his leadership, the economic stabilisation of the financially troubled club was followed by a sporting upturn that led from the fourth-tier Oberliga to the Bundesliga, which Union have been part of since 2019. This is the longest phase of top-flight membership in the club's history, which also saw qualification for the UEFA Conference League (2021), the Europa League (2022), and the Champions League (2023)."

Although Jörg Hinze is stepping down from the club's board of directors for the 2025-2029 term, the board has been expanded from five to seven members at the suggestion of Dirk Zingler.
