Premier League: West Ham lower prices of its 2016-17 season tickets due to TV rights revenues

West Ham United FC (Barclays Premier League) has launched its 2015-16 and 2016-17 season tickets campaigns campaign on 18 and 21/04/2015.

The prices of 2015-16 season tickets (without discounts) range from £675 to £955 (€945 to €1,338), while they will cost £499 to £899 (€699 to €1,259) for the 2016-17 season. The London club offers price decreases of 3% to 26% for its first season in the Olympic Stadium in London (54,000 seats) in August 2016. The club is also offering a season ticket at £99 (€139) for those under 16 years of age, which will be "the cheapest season ticket in the league on general sale to that age group," stated West Ham.

"We want to set a trend by becoming the first Premier League side to use the greater broadcast revenue from 2016 to reduce ticket prices, which we believe will be a huge step forward in the battle to make football cheaper to watch," said Karren Brady, the vice-chairman of West Ham United. The strategy also addresses the club's issue moving from from a stadium of 35,000 seats to 54,000 seats.
