Los Angeles 2028: Honda becomes a founding partner following Toyota's non-renewal with the IOC

Honda, a Japanese car and motorbike manufacturer, has become a "founding partner" of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, announced the Organising Committee on 02/06/2025. As part of this agreement, the Tokyo-based group also becomes a partner of the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) for the supply of Honda vehicles for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games and the LA28 Summer Games.

The Japanese company, whose first subsidiary was set up in Los Angeles (California) in 1959 (30,000 employees in the United States in 2025), will supply the fleet of vehicles for the organisers, officials and athletes taking part in the Games. Honda, which intends to maximise "the use of electrified vehicles like the upcoming Honda 0 Series and Acura RSX", will also provide "powersports" products, including motorbikes, ATVs and electric scooters.

This partnership will bring the committee's total commercial revenue "to $1.5bn (€1.3bn)" out of the projected $2.5bn (€2.2bn), according to John Slusher, CEO of LA28, quoted by Sports Business Journal.
