Borussia Dortmund: 12,239 simultaneous connections at first match with Wi-Fi at Signal Iduna Park

Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga) recorded 12,239 simultaneous connections for the inauguration of the Wi-Fi service at the Signal Iduna Park (80,500 seats) during the Borussia Dortmund - SC Paderborn 07 match (3-0, Matchday 29 of the 2014-15 Bundesliga), on 18/04/2015. 20,110 devices were connected to Wi-Fi throughout the match.

The infrastructure can support 46,000 simultaneous connections, announced the German club on 17/04/2015. The Chinese company Huawei has equipped the Signal Iduna Park with 900 transmitting and receiving stations and 40km of network cables for an amount estimated at more than €2m. The German telecom company Unitymedia also contributed to the Wi-Fi installation with high-speed 10 gigabyte cable.
