2023-24 Barclays WSL: record revenues of £65m for the 12 English clubs (+34%) according to Deloitte

The 12 clubs in Barclays Women's Super League posted record revenues of £65m (€77m) in 2023-24, up 34% on 2022-23 (£48m/€56.8m), according to the Annual Review of Football Finance published by the UK branch of the audit and advisory firm Deloitte on 09/06/2025.

Other key indicators in the review include:
• for the first time, each of the 12 clubs generated revenues in excess of £1m;
• an average of £5.4m in revenue per club (compared with £4m in 2022-23), with the top four generating 66% of total revenue, as in 2022-23;
• an overall wage bill of £52m (€61m) for players, up 44%;
• a wage/revenue ratio that rose from 75% to 81%.

While matchday revenues increased by 73% to £12m (31% of the total), sponsorship remains the clubs' main source of income, up 53% to £26m (40% of the total). Revenues from TV rights amounted to £10m in 2023-24 (16% of the total).

In addition, pre-tax losses for WSL clubs amounted to £28m for the 2023-24 season, compared with £21m in 2022-23.
