Getafe CF: renovation & extension work begins at the Coliseum, 30 months of work planned

Work to renovate and extend the Estadio Coliseum, home of Getafe CF (LALIGA EA Sports), began on 09/06 and is due to last 30 months, with delivery hoped for at the end of December 2027, announced the club on 10/06/2025.

The project, presented to Getafe City Council (ESP) at the end of 2023, was originally due to begin in April 2024. Among other things, it will increase the capacity from 16,996 to around 20,000 and completely cover the stands.

The stadium, named Coliseum Alfonso Pérez from 1998 to 2023 in honour of the Getafe-born former international, was renamed at the end of 2023 following sexist remarks made by the Spaniard. Once the stadium has been renovated, it is expected to be given a new name. According to several Spanish media reports, the club is looking for a title partner.

• The club from the southern suburbs of Madrid occupies the stadium under a long-term lease, which expires in 2062. The club pays an annual rent of €200,000 for the use of the stadium.
