FIFA Club World Cup 2025: mic'd up coaches, GoPros, referee cameras, production... DAZN's strategy

The OTT platform DAZN has presented its editorial strategy in France and internationally for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 on 10/06/2025.

All 63 matches will be broadcast free of charge on the streaming service. The British platform acquired the global broadcasting rights for the competition from FIFA on 04/12/2024. DAZN obtained these rights for $1bn (€952m, as of 04/12/2024), according to the Financial Times.

For the first edition of this new competition, DAZN is putting in place a specific and "innovative" programme, which includes:
• the production and broadcasting of all matches in HDR, a "world first for a sporting event";
• the use of a minimum of 23 cameras for each match and up to 30 cameras for the final;
• the installation of a "ref cam" on referees for post-match use as well as GoPro cameras on players during warm-ups;
• mic'd up coaches, if they authorise it, for post-match use;
• interviews and dressing rooms filmed in short sequences before and after matches;
• a film crew for each club taking part in the competition.
