Bundesliga: VfB Stuttgart file lawsuit against main shirt sponsor Winamax for non-payment

VfB Stuttgart (Bundesliga) have filed a lawsuit with the Stuttgart regional court against sports betting operator Winamax, their main shirt sponsor, after the latter stopped making the payments provided for under the contract "in spring 2025," announced the club on 13/06/2025.

VFB Stuttgart say they gave their sponsor "numerous reminders" to which they received no response, and are claiming a total of €2.5m.

• The French bookmaker became the German club's main shirt sponsor under an agreement initially covering three seasons (2023-2026), signed on 03/08/2023. In July 2024, the club's CEO Alexander Wehrle announced his intention to cut short this partnership, which was criticised by many fans as well as the Porsche group, a shareholder of VfB Stuttgart.
• VfB Stuttgart announced that it would display the German bank LBBW (Landesbank Baden-Württemberg) on the front of its kit from 2025-26 for three seasons (2025-2028), on 06/09/2024. The LBBW logo previously appeared on the club's shirts for the 2024-25 DFB-Pokal final on 24/05, while the contract with Winamax expires on 30/06/2025.
