Germany: the DFL acquires a 6.5% minority stake in sports streaming platform Dyn Media

The Deutsche Fußball Liga is to become a minority shareholder with a stake of "approximately" 6.5% in the German sports streaming platform Dyn Media, announced the German media group Axel Springer, co-founder of the OTT service, on 02/07/2025.

Dyn Media was founded in 2022 by Christian Seifert, former CEO of the DFL (from July 2015 to December 2021), in collaboration with the Axel Springer group. The Schwarz Group, parent company of the Lidl supermarket chain, has also acquired a 42.5% stake in Dyn Media. Axel Springer and Christian Seifert remain shareholders with 42.5% and 9% respectively.

"The new shareholders open up significant growth opportunities for Dyn Media - including acquiring additional sports rights for the German market, further developing its proprietary technical platform, and expanding services for leagues, federations, and brands both in Germany and abroad," said Axel Springer.
