UEFA/Finance: Chelsea, Aston Villa, Lyon & Barcelona among 12 clubs sanctioned by the CFCB

"The First Chamber of the Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) found that HNK Hajduk Split (CRO), Aston Villa FC (Premier League), Chelsea FC (Premier League), FC Barcelona (LALIGA EA Sports), Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1 McDonald's) and FC Porto (Liga Portugal Betclic) did not comply with the football earnings rule (from the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Sustainability Regulations, 2024 edition)," announced UEFA on 04/07/2025.

These six clubs, which were assessed for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 financial years and each agreed to enter into a settlement agreement imposing a certain number of obligations, were fined between €80m (€20m unconditional + €60m in the event of non-compliance, four-year settlement agreement) for Chelsea and €1.2m (including €0.3m firm, three-year agreement) for Hajduk Split. Barça has been fined €60m (of which €15m is unconditional, two-year settlement), OL €50m (of which €12.5m is unconditional, four-year settlement), Aston Villa €20m (€5m unconditional, three-year settlement) and FC Porto €5m (of which €0.75m is unconditional).
