DNCG: Olympique Lyonnais to remain in Ligue 1 after appeal, wage bill & transfer fees restricted

The DNCG Appeals Committee has overturned the decision (of 24/06/2025) of the Professional Clubs Control Committee to relegate Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1 McDonald's) to the Ligue 2 BKT at the end of the 2024-25 season and has decided on a "framework for the wage bill and transfer fees on the proposed 2025-26 Ligue 1 budget," announced the Fédération Française de Football on 09/07/2025.

"Olympique Lyonnais welcomes today's decision by the DNCG to keep the club in Ligue 1. Olympique Lyonnais would like to thank the Appeals Committee for recognising the ambition of the club's new management team, which is determined to ensure that the club is managed seriously in the future," reacted the French club, who finished sixth in Ligue 1 in 2024-25 and have qualified for the league phase of the 2025-26 Europa League.
