Olympique Lyonnais: "Shareholders, lenders & partners worked together" (Michele Kang)

"It was surprising that all the shareholders, lenders and partners came to the same conclusion. Each party had its own interests and positions but we worked together to overcome the situation. Some lenders contributed more funds, as did other shareholders," said Michele Kang, president of Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1 McDonald's), on 09/07/2025.

Kang, who is also president of OL Lyonnes (Arkema Première Ligue), was speaking just hours after the the DNCG Appeals Committee overturned the decision (of 24/06/2025) of the Professional Clubs Control Committee to relegate Olympique Lyonnais to the Ligue 2 BKT at the end of the 2024-25 season and decided on a "framework for the wage bill and transfer fees on the proposed 2025-26 Ligue 1 budget."

"The DNCG clearly explained the shortcomings in its letter to us. In particular, they expected us to have sufficient cash to run the team for a full season.
