UEFA/Multi-club ownership: Lyon admitted to Europa League, Crystal Palace relegated to Conference League

Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1 McDonald's) have been admitted to the league phase of the 2025-26 Europa League, while Crystal Palace FC (Premier League), who qualified for the competition, have not been admitted but have been relegated to the Conference League. This is the decision of the First Chamber of the UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) following its proceedings against the two clubs, announced the European confederation on 11/07/2025.

The UEFA body, which had opened the procedure "due to a potential conflict with the timeshare rules set out in Article 5 of the UEFA Club Competition Regulations", issued its decision two days after the DNCG Appeals Committee overturned the decision (of 24/06/2025) of the French Professional Clubs Control Committee to relegate Olympique Lyonnais to the Ligue 2 BKT at the end of the 2024-25 season.

"Consequently, and following an assessment by the CFCB of all the other relevant conditions included in the settlement agreement (see below), Olympique Lyonnais will not be excluded from the 2025-26 UEFA club competitions," said the latter.
