Piracy/WTA: Paris Court orders 3 VPNs to be blocked

"In a decision handed down on 18/07/2025, the Paris Judicial Court ordered blocking measures against the companies NordVPN, CyberGhost and ProtonVPN, at the request of beIN SPORTS FRANCE, the exclusive holder of the rights to broadcast the 2025 season of the WTA tournament on French territory," said the pay-TV group on 22/07/2025.

"This decision recognises that VPN services enable the French public to access IPTV services and websites illegally broadcasting WTA competition matches, and that VPN providers are therefore likely to contribute to stopping these infringements, within the meaning of Article L 333-10 of the French Sports Code."

"The court therefore ordered the VPN providers concerned to take all necessary measures to prevent access to these illegal services from France and its overseas territories until the end of the WTA season. The companies must also block all new pirate services reported to them by Arcom during this period," added beIN.
