Crystal Palace: sale of Eagle Football's 43% stake to Robert Johnson approved by the Premier League

The Premier League board and a dedicated independent oversight panel have approved the acquisition of 42.92% of Crystal Palace FC by Robert Johnson "following the completion of the owners' and directors' test," announced the English league on 24/07/2025.

Robert Wood Johnson, American entrepreneur and co-owner of the New York Jets (NFL) franchise, had signed an agreement to buy Eagle Football Holdings' shares in the English club, according to the latter on 23/06/2025. The deal is valued at £190m (€222m) according to the BBC and The Guardian. American John Textor became a shareholder of the club in August 2021 for £87.5m (€103.2m), before transferring his shares to his club holding company Eagle Football Holdings, which was set up in November 2022.

The validation of this transaction comes two days after the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld Crystal Palace FC's appeal against UEFA, Nottingham Forest FC (Premier League) and Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1 McDonald's) concerning UEFA's decision (on 11/07/2025) to exclude the club from the 2025-26 Europa League "due to an alleged breach of…
