Belgium: DAZN under investigation for inaccurate subscription content

Rob Beenders, Belgian Federal Minister for Consumer Protection, has asked the Economic Inspectorate to open an investigation into DAZN in Belgium, announced his office on 28/07/2025.

This request comes after several consumer complaints against the OTT platform. The complaints relate in particular to the fact that DAZN does not properly communicate the content of its subscriptions before users subscribe to the offer. Certain matches and competitions would therefore not be accessible after subscription, without prior information. "If it turns out that a consumer only discovers after payment that there are, for example, restrictions on the number of matches available, that is unacceptable," said Rob Beenders.

The Belgian Economic Inspectorate should also check, according to the investigation, whether DAZN provides correct information on the 14-day right of withdrawal and whether the final stage of the ordering process is sufficiently transparent.
