Manchester United FC: Mike Sansoni (ex Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team) appointed director of data

Mike Sansoni has been appointed director of data at Manchester United FC (Premier League), announced the club on 30/07/2025. He has held this position since April 2025.

Sansoni joins the Mancunian club after 11 years spent in various engineering roles with the German Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team, where, from January 2023 to April 2025, he was in charge of the performance of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton's single-seater.

Reporting to Omar Berrada, the club's chief executive, Mike Sansoni "will be responsible for transforming the club's capabilities in data and artificial intelligence, drawing on his experience in machine learning and advanced modelling in Formula One. He has been tasked with establishing Manchester United as a data-led organisation, embedding predictive and AI-driven decision-making across football and the wider club," explained Manchester United, which intends to fill several data roles "in the coming months."
