USA: NFL acquires 10% of ESPN Group, while the Disney subsidiary acquires several NFL media assets

The National Football League and ESPN (The Walt Disney Company) have reached an agreement under which the North American league will acquire a 10% stake in the television group, while ESPN will take over the management of several NFL media assets, they announced on 05/08/2025.

As part of this ground-breaking agreement, ESPN will acquire the following assets from the league:
• the NFL Network channel, now owned and operated by ESPN;
• the rights to the NFL RedZone brand and the distribution of the channel to operators;
• the NFL Fantasy Football game, which will merge with ESPN Fantasy Football to create the "official fantasy season-long game of the NFL."

" ESPN's platforms will license an additional three NFL games per season to air on NFL Network as a result of today's news. In addition, ESPN will adjust its overall NFL game schedule, with four games (including some from overlapping windows) shifting to NFL Network, which will continue to present seven games per season," explained the two entities.
