Tennis: record prize money of $90m (€77.5m) for the 2025 US Open, up 20%

The prize money for the 2025 edition of the US Open Grand Slam tennis tournament, which takes place from 24/08 to 07/09/2025, has reached a record $90m (€77.5m), up 20% (+$15m) on 2024 ($75m/€67.6m) and 57.2% on 2019 ($57.24m/€51.6m), according to the United States Tennis Association (USTA), organiser of the competition, on 06/08/2025.

The winners of the men's and women's singles will take home a record sum of $5m (€4.2m, +38.9% on 2024), making it "the largest purse in tennis history," said the USTA, whose tournament has offered equal prize money for men's and women's tournaments since 1973. The singles finalists will receive $2.5m (€2.16m, +38.9%), while the doubles winners (men's and women's) will receive $1m (€865,000, +33.3%).

In total, the prize money for the men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles tournaments has risen by 23% to $4.78m (€4.13m). The total prize money for the men's and women's qualifying tournaments has reached a record $8m (€6.9m), an increase of 10% compared to 2024.
