LALIGA EA Sports: RFEF agreement to relocate Villarreal CF - FC Barcelona to Miami (USA)

"The RFEF board of directors has approved the request made by FC Barcelona and Villarreal CF to hold the match corresponding to Matchday 17 in the first division (LALIGA EA Sports) in the United States," announced the Spanish Football Federation on 11/08/2025.

"After receiving and verifying the documentation received, and following approval by the board of directors, the Royal Spanish Football Federation will submit a request to UEFA to begin the process for subsequent authorisation by FIFA for the match to be played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami (Florida, USA) on 20/12/2025, in accordance with FIFA's International Match Regulations and the applicable rules approved by the RFEF," added the body.

For years, LALIGA, led by its president Javier Tebas, has wanted to stage a Spanish top flight match abroad, and more specifically in the United States.
