2025-26 Ligue 1 McDonald's: all you need to know about the 18 clubs in the French top flight

Paris Saint-Germain, winners of the last four editions of the French top flight (from 2021-22 to 2024-25), will put their title on the line again from Friday 15/08/2025, when the 2025-26 Ligue 1 McDonald's season begins with the Stade Rennais FC - Olympique de Marseille match (kick-off at 20:45 CET).

Three Ligue 1 clubs have qualified directly for the league phase of the Champions League: Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique de Marseille (2^nd last season) and AS Monaco FC (3^rd). OGC Nice (4^th), eliminated by SL Benfica (Liga Portugal Betclic) in the 3^rd qualifying round of the competition, have been relegated to the Europa League, where they join LOSC Lille (5^th) and Olympique Lyonnais (6^th), administratively relegated to the Ligue 2 BKT by the DNCG on 24/06 before being reinstated on appeal on 09/07, with restrictions on the wage bill and transfer fees. RC Strasbourg Alsace (7^th), for their part, will take part in the Conference League play-offs, a prerequisite for reaching the league phase of the competition.
