2026 World Cup: launch of the FIFA programme to recruit around 65,000 volunteers

"Approximately 65,000 volunteers will be called on to support the delivery of the biggest FIFA World Cup yet. FIFA today launched the application process for the volunteer programme. This once-in-a-generation community of volunteers will help bring to life a tournament uniting three countries and billions of hearts around the world," announced the international football federation on 11/08/2025.

FIFA has entrusted this 23^rd World Cup - the first to feature 48 teams, compared to 32 from 1998 to 2022, and 104 matches instead of 64 - to three federations from the Concacaf zone (US Soccer, FMF and Canada Soccer) during its Congress held in Moscow (RUS) on 13/06/2018. The United States will host 78 of the 104 scheduled matches, with Mexico and Canada hosting 13 each.
