USA: a record average of 850,000 viewers for Matchday 1 of the 2025-26 Premier League on NBC

The six games on Matchday 1 of the 2025-26 Premier League (15-17/08) broadcast in the United States on the channels of the American broadcasting group NBC Sports (a subsidiary of the American media and entertainment conglomerate NBCUniversal) recorded an average audience of 850,000 viewers, according to data from the American Nielsen Institute released by the group on 19/08/2025. This is a record for an opening matchday of the Premier League broadcast on NBC (+4% on the previous record of 820,000 in 2024-25).

The Manchester United - Arsenal FC match (0-1) drew 2 million viewers on NBC channels and on its Peacock streaming platform on Sunday 17/08/2025 (kick-off at 16:30 BST). This was a record for Matchday 1 of the Premier League on NBC and the second highest audience ever for an English top flight match broadcast by the group (see below). The match also drew 300,000 viewers on the channels of the Telemundo group (Spanish language, owned by NBCUniversal).
