NWSL: Lizbeth Ovalle to Orlando Pride ($1.5m/€1.27m), the most expensive women's football transfer ever

Mexican international Lizbeth Ovalle (born 19/10/1999), transferred from Tigres UANL (Mexican first division) to Orlando Pride (NWSL) for $1.5m (€1.27m), has become "the most expensive transfer in global women's soccer," announced the National Women’s Soccer League and the franchise on 21/08/2025.

This transfer surpasses the record set in July 2025 by Arsenal FC (Barclays Women's Super League) who "paid Liverpool $1.3m (€1.1m) for Olivia Smith (CAN) last month," according to the League. The Canadian became the first player to be the subject of a transfer in excess of €1m.

Lizbeth Ovalle "will join the Pride upon the approval of her P1 visa (for internationally renowned athletes and sports teams) and International Transfer Certificate." She has signed with the Orlando (Florida) franchise until 2027 (three seasons), with an option for the 2028 season.
