Italy: "Aleksander Ceferin has criticised our stadiums and I agree with him" (E. Simonelli, Lega Serie A)

"Aleksander Ceferin (UEFA president) has been very critical of Italian stadiums, and I agree with him. We are lagging behind all other countries: in the last 18 years, we have inaugurated just six stadiums, only three of which are in the Serie A (in Udine, Bergamo and Turin). In the rest of Europe, there are 226. I am very concerned," said Ezio Simonelli, president of Lega Serie A, during the "Radio Anch'io Sport" programme on the public radio station Radio Rai 1, on 25/08/2025.

"I am really worried about Euro 2032. Is the bid at risk? I hope it's just my concern, but when the UEFA president says that our stadiums are in a 'comatose state' and the European Championships are in six years' time, we risk looking bad on the international stage," added Simonelli.

"Udine (Friuli) is an example of excellence, its Bluenergy Stadium has made us look very good (during the UEFA Super Cup played on 13/08/2025).
