DFL: a memorandum of understanding with the State of Queensland (Australia) to develop football

The Deutsche Fußball Liga has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tourism and Experiences Queensland (TEQ), the government tourism development agency for the state of Queensland (Australia), to "deliver a summer festival of football bringing together Australian and German traditions, alongside a wider focus to foster the development of football across the region," announced the German professional league on 28/08/2025.

The agreement "focuses on strengthening the popularity of football across the State of Queensland, through a range of community projects, such as integrating the Bundesliga into existing sporting and cultural events, exploring other opportunities for collaboration football programmes, and utilising the Bundesliga's position as one of the world's most popular football leagues to drive commercial opportunities in Queensland," explained the DFL, which pointed out that the German league has the highest number of Australian players among the European Top 5 leagues.
