Germany: Hertha BSC, 1. FC Köln & FC Nürnberg on the podium for their use of young players in 2024-25

• 1. FC Köln (promoted to the Bundesliga): €2.5m;
• 1. FC Nürnberg (2.Bundesliga): €2.2m;
• SpVgg Greuther Fürth (2.Bundesliga): €2.1m;
• Karlsruher SC (2.Bundesliga): €1.9m;
• SV Elversberg (2.Bundesliga): €1.7m.

These are, in descending order, the German professional clubs most rewarded by the DFL - and the sums received - for playing "German-trained U23s with the status of 'locally-trained players'" in 2024-25, according to the German professional football league on 28/08/2025.

"In the 2021-22 to 2024-25 rights cycle, the 'young talent' pillar of the revenue distribution model accounted for a share of 3% in each of the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons, and 4% in each of the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons. A total of €48m was distributed for the 2024-25 season," said the DFL.
