2026 World Cup: RTVE acquires TV rights for Spain & a sublicensing agreement with Mediapro

RTVE has acquired the full broadcasting rights to the 2026 World Cup for Spain from FIFA, announced the Spanish public broadcasting group on 10/09/2025.

RTVE has signed a sublicensing agreement with the Mediapro group, which will obtain the media rights for all of the competition's matches. It will launch a dedicated channel covering the tournament around the clock and will also offer 71 matches (out of 104) exclusively on its channels. RTVE will broadcast one World Cup game per matchday, including those involving the Spanish national team, as well as the opening match and the final.

Mediapro had previously broadcast the 2022 World Cup via its dedicated OTT channel "Gol Mundial" after obtaining the full rights from FIFA. The Spanish telecommunications operator Telefonica broadcast all the matches via its pay-TV bouquet, Movistar, under a sublicensing agreement with Mediapro. The RTVE group broadcast 19 of the competition's matches free-to-air.
