UNFP: "We're not leading a crusade against FIFA" (David Terrier, president)

"We are not leading a crusade against FIFA, but a fight to preserve the physical and mental integrity of players. It is also to ensure that the rights of footballers are recognised, in particular freedom of movement within the European Union, that we have denounced the transfer system and supported Lassana Diarra, and we are still waiting for a real reform," declared David Terrier, president of UNFP and FIFPRO Europe, on 08/09/2025.

"The International Federation, through the changes it made to its regulations following the Diarra ruling, thought first and foremost of protecting its own interests, with no real concern for clubs and players, or for the general interest," he added at the conclusion of the UNFP's executive committee meeting.

"We all need to put in place new rules, new regulations and a different process as quickly as possible to protect players, especially as we are only at the start of a season that will be punctuated by the 2026 World Cup, where the number of injuries will inexorably follow the accumulation of matches, both at club and international level," said…
