UEFA: consultation on the relocation of league matches outside Europe continues

"No decision was taken today" regarding the requests from the FIGC and RFEF to relocate a league game "outside UEFA territory," announced the body following its executive committee meeting in Tirana (ALB) on 11/09/2025. The European Confederation wishes to "ensure that it has the views of all stakeholders before coming to a final decision" and will therefore continue "consultation with all stakeholders in European football - including fans."

The Italian Federation is asking UEFA to approve the Lega Serie A's plan to relocate the AC Milan - Como 1907 match, scheduled for Matchday 24 of the 2025-26 Serie A season in February 2026, to Perth, Australia. This request is partly justified by the unavailability of the San Siro, which will host the opening ceremony of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Games at the same time. The Spanish Federation, for its part, is asking the European body to authorise LALIGA to hold the Villarreal CF - FC Barcelona match, which is part of Matchday 17 of 2025-26 LALIGA EA Sports season, in Miami (Florida, United States) on 20/12/2025.
