Germany: 4,500 people take part in class action lawsuit against DAZN's price increase

More than 4,500 consumers have joined the class action lawsuit brought by the Federation of German Consumer Organisations (VZBV) against DAZN over the price increases applied by the OTT platform between 2021 and 2022 in Germany, announced the body on 16/09/2025.

"When prices were increased in mid-2022, the provider almost doubled its prices; for example, the monthly subscription suddenly cost £29.99 instead of £14.99. This led to growing discontent among consumers. More than 2,000 affected parties responded to a call from the Federation of German Consumer Organisations in January 2023. As a result, the Federation of German Consumer Organisations filed a class action lawsuit," said the body.

"The Federation of German Consumer Organisations believes that the contractual clauses used by DAZN to justify the price increases unfairly disadvantaged customers. With this class action lawsuit, the consumer organisation wants to have the streaming provider's price increases declared invalid and ensure that those affected receive a refund," added the Federation.
