The UK Government and the National Basketball Association will jointly invest £10m (€11.5m) to promote and develop amateur basketball in the UK, according to the Basketball England on 17/09/2025.

This initiative is part of the UK Government's commitment to invest £900m (€1.03bn) in sport over four years (2025-2029), including £400m (€461m) to develop and upgrade community facilities across the country. It is also the first time that an investment made as part of this strategic plan has benefited a sport other than football.

The collaboration involves a 50:50 investment between the two bodies:
• £5m (€5.7m) from the UK Government (via the Department for Culture, Media and Sport) for dedicated "basketball and basketball-led multi-sport facilities in England";
• £5m from the NBA to support community development and fan engagement programmes until 2028 (in addition to its existing schemes, which already reach over 50,000 amateur players a year in the UK).
