Women's football: after FC Como Women, holding company Mercury 13 acquires Bristol City (Barclays WSL2)

Mercury 13, a holding company for women's football clubs, has become the majority shareholder in Bristol City Women (Barclays Women's Super League 2) following the acquisition of a majority stake from the Lansdown family, which remains a minority shareholder, announced the two parties on 18/09/2025. The transaction is subject to the approval of WSL Football.

This is the second investment by the company co-founded by Victoire Cogevina Reynal and Mario Malavé, following the acquisition of FC Como Women (Serie A Femminile eBay) in March 2024. "The first deal of its kind in England, this landmark transaction establishes a new model for women's football - combining an integrated club structure with commercial independence to grow Bristol City Women into one of the country's leading clubs."
