Manchester United FC: 6,000 additional safe standing seats to be installed at Old Trafford

Manchester United FC (Premier League) will install 6,000 additional safe standing rail seats in the Stretford End stand at Old Trafford (74,879 capacity) by the end of October 2025, announced the club on 23/09/2025.

The first phase of seat installation is scheduled to take place before the home game versus Sunderland AFC (Matchday 7 of the 2025-26 Premier League season) on 04/10, while the entire project will be completed by the end of October. The Manchester club began testing rail seats in January 2022 before extending them to 2023-24. The new installation is still subject to approval by the Sports Ground Safety Authority (SGSA)

"The project will double the current provision of rail seats inside the stadium, making Old Trafford one of the Premier League's leading venues for safe standing. This latest development reflects the club's ongoing investment in enhancing the matchday experience, with safe standing widely recognised for boosting atmosphere while also improving safety," said Manchester United.
