DFL: sales & digital activities to be brought together under a new subsidiary "at the start of 2026"

On the recommendation of Marc Lenz and Steffen Merkel, co-CEOs of the Deutsche Fußball Liga, the league's executive committee ('präsidium') and supervisory board have approved the structural reorganisation of the DFL, which will take effect in "at the start of 2026," announced the German professional football league on 26/09/2025.

As part of this restructuring, the subsidiaries Bundesliga International, responsible for the marketing of media and commercial rights, and DFL Digital Sports, specialised in the production and distribution of digital content, will merge.

As a result, "there will be three central business units in the DFL Group in future:
• The DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH, as the overarching parent company, will be responsible for central functions in association and club operations (including licensing, association law, institutional and political relations, football, match operations and fan affairs) as well as overarching corporate functions (including legal, finance, strategy, corporate development, communications, human resources).
