Euro 2032: Massimo Sessa, an Italian engineer appointed "extraordinary stadium commissioner"

Massimo Sessa, an Italian engineer born on 22/06/1962, has been appointed "extraordinary commissioner for stadiums" by Andrea Abodi, the Italian Minister for Sport and Youth, on 26/09/2025.

Massimo Sessa is the president of the Consiglio Superiore dei Lavori Pubblici (Superior Council of Public Works), Italy's highest technical advisory body for public works.

He will be responsible for "coordinating and supporting activities and operations relating to the sports infrastructure required for the 2032 European Football Championship (jointly hosted by Italy & Turkey)," according to a press release issued by the Italian Ministry of Sport and Youth (full text below).

"Aleksander Ceferin (UEFA president) has been very critical of Italian stadiums, and I agree with him. We are lagging behind all other countries: in the last 18 years, we have inaugurated just six stadiums, only three of which are in the Serie A (in Udine, Bergamo and Turin).
